ITI Trade Fitter Overview

Fitter trade at ITI is powered by NCVT and is designed as a job-oriented program suitable for both government and private jobs.

This trade is a powerful avenue for self-empowerment, meeting the industrial requirements of Indian and international industries.

Employability Scope

Upon successful completion of the Fitter course, candidates can find employment opportunities in various sectors:

  • Production & Manufacturing Industries
  • Structural Fabrication (e.g., bridges, roof structures, building & construction)
  • Automobile and Allied Industries
  • Service Industries (e.g., road transportation and railways)
  • Shipbuilding and Repair
  • Infrastructure and Defense Organizations
  • Public Sector Industries (e.g., BHEL, BEML, NTPC) and Private Industries in India & Abroad
  • Self-Employment

International Comparability

While the existence of official documents suggesting comparability with qualifications in other countries is not known, ITI Fitter graduates have successfully secured employment in Gulf countries, European countries, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, etc.

Progression Pathway

After completing the Fitter course, individuals have various progression pathways, including:

Appearing in 10+2 examination through National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) for acquiring a higher secondary certificate.

Admission to a diploma course in notified branches of Engineering through lateral entry.

Joining as a semi-skilled worker in the industry and progressing to a supervisor role after completing a part-time diploma in a relevant branch of Engineering.

Participating in an Apprenticeship program in different industries leading to a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC), followed by employment as a skilled worker and potential progression to a supervisor role after completing a part-time diploma in a relevant branch of Engineering.

Enrolling in the Crafts Instructor Training Scheme (CITS) in the relevant trade, leading to employment in ITI/Vocational Training Institute as an instructor for Fitter.
